National Road Safety Month to be held from January 18 to February 17, 2021
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways observes the National Road Safety Week every year in the second week of January. However, in 2021, the Government has decided for the first time to observe National Road Safety Month instead of National Road Safety Week.

During this period nation-wide various activities will be conducted throughout the country in association with the Central/ State Governments/ UT administrations, and other stakeholders.

Fondation PSA in partnership with Handicap International and ATSWA Trust have launched the Safety Shelly Truck.

For nearly two years, Safety Shelly, the mascot of the program "Together for Safer Roads in the State of Tamil Nadu, India" has been teaching students at two schools in Tamil Nadu about road safety rules.

During this road safety month,

  • the truck will travel throughout the region to remind people of the behavior they need on the road.
  • messages will be posted on social media to remind people of the security rules
  • activities will be organized as competitions for children on the radio
