Geographical remoteness is a barrier to access to cultural and educational offer
Grand Débat de la Culture, the summary of which was published in April 2019, shows that there is a growing cultural divide between rural and peri-urban areas on the one hand and metropolitan areas on the other, while there is a "real need for access to culture in all territories".
This is why, since 2011, Fondation PSA has been supporting structures of general interest (associations, NGOs, etc.) in France and abroad that propose innovative projects to overcome territorial inequalities in terms of access to cultural and educational offers. For the PSA Foundation, education and culture promote the development and openness of individuals, and are therefore key levers for their social integration. The meeting with works of art opens up the reflection and the sharing of emotions and ideas: it is a powerful factor for change and awareness thanks to the exchanges it allows. Likewise, access to education remains the main route to the emancipation of individuals.
The different axes of Fondation PSA's philanthropic action in the field of education and culture
- Access to education: to provide remote groups in precarious and/or handicapped situations with an educational and vocational training offer to which they do not have access. These projects can take different forms such as: information on training opportunities / school guidance, the creation of a tutoring / sponsorship system, academic support or the implementation of an educational offer adapted to people with disabilities. For the PSA Foundation, this is an opportunity to offer a second chance to vulnerable young people.
- The travel of culture « beyond the walls »: : taking culture out of places dedicated to it such as museums, going out to meet people in social precarious situations and / or distant from the cultural offer where they are found. The projects supported by Fondation PSA offer solutions that develop the accessibility of art through a wide range of activities (creative workshops, fun and educational activities, traveling exhibitions, etc.). They help break the inhibition that some people far removed from the cultural offer sometimes show when it comes to going to the museum.
- Road safety education: raising the awareness of the most vulnerable people about the dangers of the road, helping them learn road safety rules, in particular by promoting the passage of driving licenses. The automotive culture of Fondation PSA makes it a particularly sensitive patron of the fact that the eco-mobility system protects freedom of movement, not only through vehicles and infrastructure, but also through user behavior.
- Education for sustainable and inclusive mobility: think about mobility for all, so that it is accessible and concerned with limiting its environmental impacts. Allow individuals to choose the means of travel that best suits their needs, support the thinking of regional players in taking into account mobility needs for all and imagine mobility solutions that are physically and financially accessible to people with disabilities. low income, job seekers, precarious workers, the elderly, people with reduced mobility… and integrate the precarious and vulnerable in the very conception of the offer.
