THE WORLD IS MOVING, BUT SOME PEOPLE ARE BEING LEFT BEHIND.
In our fast-paced world, everyone should have the ability to get around. Yet some people, in places left by the wayside, are at a disadvantage because they have no access to means of transport.
This situation makes it harder for them to build social ties or access jobs, training, education and culture. In a 2016 survey by Elabe for the Laboratoire de la Mobilité Inclusive, almost one-quarter of French people (23%) said they had refused a job or training offer because they had no way to get there.
Fondation PSA helps recognised charities and NGOs that support the unemployed, benefit recipients and young people facing hardship – people who are routinely referred to by social workers.
Fondation PSA forges partnerships with these organisations to address specific local needs, bring transport to people who cannot otherwise travel, and tackle isolation and loneliness.
WORKING WITH PEOPLE AND ORGANISATIONS ON THE GROUND FOR INCLUSIVE MOBILITY
These charities include:
- social garages, where people can get their car repaired, or rent or buy vehicles at an affordable cost, giving the unemployed a way back into employment;
- social driving schools, which use bespoke teaching methods and charge affordable prices to help people pass road safety, highway code and driving test examinations – a vital social inclusion and professional integration service;
- solidarity rent-a-car structures, which provide mobility solutions as part of a broader package of inclusion services;
- passenger transportation services such as on-demand transport, social taxis and carsharing services, which enable people without their own vehicle to travel to medical appointments, job interviews, training courses or shops.
Through sponsorship and funding activities, Fondation PSA also supports mobility centres, covering a wide range of inclusive mobility services within a given area (such as mobility assessment, affordable vehicle rental, carsharing services, on-demand transport, social driving schools, etc.).
